The consulate won't use any return envelop other than USPS priority or express mail. My stamping time was one week. So you can keep an eye on your mailbox in case ur passport comes in a regular mail since it's been 20 days.

In my case, the whole process (from online app submission to passport got back to me) took 28 days. I applied online on April 19th. So you can get your visa in time if lucky enough. LA is recommended to send your passport to.

I have to say my case was really lucky considering the whole processing time. I highly doubt they process passports on a time arrival basis (somewhat unfair). Based on others' experiences, LA doesn't take more than 2 weeks to process passports. So I think they will have your passport sent out...

I applied online on April 19th; got pp request on May 7th; pp received by LA on May 8th; they sent back my pp on May 15th. My case was really quick compared with others. The avg app review time is around 25 days. I strongly suggest you send your pp to LA based on others' sharing about NY office...

Online application is the fastest way for sure. Another dude in this forum also applied via mail and got passport back around 33days (if I remember correctly). So perhaps your passport will be mailed out early next week (hopefully).

I would suggest LA office. It took only one week to stamp my visa(I received my passport yesterday). Several dudes in this forum had terrible experience with NYC office.

Seems like LA office is far better than NY office. LA office only took 18 days to approve my application and 8 days to stamp my visa and sent passport back. So do not use NY office at all.

Someone did go there and pick up their passport. According to others' experience, it normally takes around 10 days to finish stamping in LA. So I think your passport should be mailed around today (hopefully).

Normally the whole process will take at LEAST more than 30 days. So I'm afraid highly likely you won't be able to make it before your trip.

I know some people picked up their passports in person (but mailed passports to LA consulate). For NY office, I'm not sure if you can do the same thing.
