So the thing is, if you get a visa from any Schengen country, you can freely cross borders within the schengen area. You can get a schengen visa from any EU country which is part of this agreement. The visa itself will be sticked inside to your Rtd. it doesnt matter if you have pr card or not...

It’s very-very hard to get an appointment, I‘ve been through the process. What’s worked for me: keep checking the booking webpage between 3 and 6a.m. in the morning. Hope it works for you too. Good luck

I don’t understand why people want their passport back. It can risk their status if they use or even renew it. I can’t think about any reason why request back from CBSA.

You do need a guarantor to apply for RTD. Ask your family doctor or lawyer. in case they dont want to sign for you, you have to find a notary public, you pay them, and they sign for you.

Yes, Portugal accepts RTD. But you need a Schengen visa. It takes time, its recommended to apply several months before travelling.
