I have always wanted to study in Canada and this SDS scheme has made me seriously consider it. However, I have a few concerns and if someone can clear them out I'll be thankful.

Educational background:

O'levels - 2014

Foundation in Business I.T From Malaysia - 2015 (Unfinished as I had to return to Pakistan towards the end of the year due to personal family issues)
Continued my Foundation in August 2017 and graduated from it in March 2018. (CGPA: 2.8)

BA (Hons) Business Studies - August 2018 - Ongoing (All distinctions and credits: CGPA 4.0)

*IELTS 7.5 (No less than 7)*

I am thinking of applying as a transfer student. Does anyone think I should go for it? I really want to try under the SDS scheme. Is the weird study gap too much? Or am I just being paranoid?

Hello OGPABLO,

Sorry to hear about your refusal, I am afraid you can't meet up the resumption date if you reapply now. The best thing to do is defer your admission to the next possible intake and request for your gcms notes to know what really went wrong. There are so many other areas to be satisfied aside your finances, how was your SOP, reflect on it to make sure it addresses every areas of your application.

If you need help writing your SOP, email johnpfyfasnow@gmail.com

Hello Farazahsheikh,

Your academic profile seems okay. Since you are going through SDS, try to satisfy the other necessary requirements then you would stand a chance. The study gap can be explained by writing a convincing SOP to explain what you've been engaged on, during these period. As do the transfer, assess your situation properly, otherwise apply for a direct program.

Hello,
I applied for Jan 2020 intake,
The issue is that i made the application this month. Can I secure admission from 1 of the 3 schools I applied for?. And how long does it take to get a decision from Canadian schools

I believe the schools are colleges, if so, getting admission isn't as rigid when compared to universities in Canada. Mist schools normally issue out admissions prior after the deadline date of the program. So, be expectant especially if you put in a satisfying application that either meets or beats the requirements. Just be hopeful.

Good luck!

The University of Manitoba is easy to do online. you can be able to do all including uploading the unofficial transcript online and all other required docs that may be needed. All you need do is go to their program page and search for the course you want to pursue and fill in the application for the term you desire to go for.

If it's for a graduate program, here link to their graduate programs. http://umanitoba.ca/explore/programs-of-study/graduate

Thank you for your response. I learnt if I want to apply I will have to get a potential supervisor, which I have been trying to do, but none has replied. Is there any better way of getting a supervisor before applying or how best can one do the application for graduate studies.

I don't know if there is any better way of securing a supervisor if not by email or call. Most departments need a supervisor before application while some don't. for departments with a need for a supervisor, no need to apply in such because you may not be offered admission. so I suggest you go for course-based which doesn't require supervisor or departments that it isn't mandatory to have one before application

Thank you for your response. Please which one is course-based and how would one know if it's not mandatory in the department to have a supervisor?

I will leave you to go do more research on all you need to know about all. But have in mind that we have a course-based and research-based program. The course base doesn't need research and as well no supervisor is needed but the research base is purely research and supervisors are needed before admission can be offered. So Olayinka, take your time and do a lot to reading and research about all that then you will be more enlightened.
