Hi guys,
I have 24 days to complete my one year still no test invite however couple of days ago I received a reply from web form saying every cases are different and we will make sure all needful effort to finialize the application ASAP.

This is what I got!! No idea what they do but have to wait and see!!
that's answer they usually give, the background check is just an excuse, It all depends on the agent handling your case. I have not left the country for more than 10 years and there is not much to check, but still waiting for the test, so it cannot be the background check, it's usually just because of a lazy useless agent or as our friend said maybe they are on vacation for 11 months. If this kind of employees were working for the private sector they would be fired in less than a week! Good luck to the remaining.

Hey Guys,

I applied in Oct 2017 and cleared my tests in March 2018 at the Scarborough Office. After the test the agent asked for additional information regarding my travel to the US ( in consulting, so did a fair bit of back and forth). As per the request, I provided the ATIP (Canada) and FOIA (US) reports showing my Entry and Exit details. The office did acknowledge the receipt of the additional information as well.

Now it is almost the end of September, and I am still waiting for updates. Haven't heard back from IRCC and the last update on the site shows that I was asked to take the test in Mar 2018.

My partner's application was also processed along with mine and she did not require any additional documentation. But it looks like that one is also delayed because the agent chose to club them together.

Anyone going through a similar situation or had similar experiences? Not sure if there is anything I can do other than wait.

Thanks in advance.

If you applied together, then you will need to wait till both the application processing is complete. Also as your test is already done, you will just need to wait now. There are some folks here who applied in Oct 2017 and still waiting for their test from Scarborough. So just relax. you are much ahead of them.

I had a similar situation where I forgot about including a travel before I became PR. I had to translate my expired passport for stamps. That took about two weeks. Then after that I believe it took them about a month to change the status to DM. I remember I had called in a few days before the DM change. Not sure if that affected it or not. But if you look at my timeline, you can see from the Test Date (May 30th) until July 5th for DM. Other than calling to check, yeah, all you can do is wait.

who applied last Oct. and still waiting for test invite?
I'm here too. App reached 23 Oct 2017. IP since Jan 14. I checked with my MP last week, their office called CIC and they told that it's still within 12 months of processing time. I will follow up with them on 24th Oct. I don't mind waiting few weeks or months now..but I hope they send me test + oath invite on same day, will request MP to make this request with cic. I know it may not happen, but I have seen that happening with Mississauga applicants. but who know...Let's be positive :)

I have a travel plan in next May. I have to book my flight tickets for myself and my family. Not sure when my process will be done. Don't know what to do. On 19th Oct it will be one year. No test invite yet.
These lazy useless agents are already citizens, so they don't understand our situation.

I am giving up on the idea of finishing it in 12 months, since it's just 2 weeks away from tomorrow and I still don't have any test invite yet - when the time is up on Oct 12 and I still don't have anything, I will just forget about it and go on with whatever plan/situation that comes along, if the test is scheduled for a time I am away, I will just email them back and tell them to reschedule - have waited for a year, another month or two won't really matter any more - I am done with reporting/delaying every trip, thinking a test may be scheduled during that time. Life is full of stress already, no need to suffer more from this

In fact if you never left canada for 10 yrs then many things to check . 99% of people had at least one trip in last 10 years who applied for citizenship. Anything abnormal seeks more attention than a regular case. If you have 12 grade that will give you university admission but if you have Bsc, Msc , PHD then only your 12 grade certificate won't land you to any university unless you send all the transcripts.
Did you even travel from Asia to US/Canada without any checked and carry on bag? I did once and I was sent to secondary about the suspicion about not having any bag pack.
Your logic is flawed. Background checks are a different beast from active screening like those conducted at airports.
A background check has a fixed list, once the boxes are ticked, that's all, you move on to the next things. While active screenings require you to keep multiple changing variables in consideration, so anything that deviates from the norm stands out.
A common name like John Smith or Ahmed Abdul, would trigger multiple similarities during a background check (hence fingerprint requests and the like), requiring further examination, while an uncommon name would not. If a person has spent all 10 years in Canada, there would be no need to reach out to interpol and other national police forces for additional background checks, unlike someone who has visited multiple countries for longer durations.
