so you didnt pay upfront too when you submit your application? you just pay it the moment you get your landing appointment letter? or they ask you tonpy it between the processing of your application?

I paid upfront. But on my landing letter it states that if I did not pay the $490.00 I should pay it before 72 hours before the day of landing. I had to show the receipt that I paid the fees. That same receipt you will have to provided as well.

I got it I have to pay it before the landing appointment. I ll pay it today to avoid delays. And how long did it take you to get your PR after the DM ?

Oh I only landed on Monday. Today is the 3 days since I became a permanent resident of Canada. The immigration officer told me that it will take approximately 2 months to get it.

Keeping my fingers crossed that its before, but I am not overly concerned. My pr card can take its sweet sweet time to come, I don't really care.

Good luck to you!!

and nothing in between? like AIP or the email saying stuff like "we're pleased to inform you that your app's processing has been completed"?

No, nothing. I used to call CIC and asked almost every other day, sometimes every day hahaha......
But they told me that my application was approved and that Etobicoke will contact me for landing appointment.

The Wifes mycic today finally updated the Medical to "You have passed the medical exam", over 3 weeks since she did the medical which gives you an idea of how long it can take.

Been having lots of issues with documents not being received, "glitches" and wrong information being sent in messages to MYCIC account, all very frustrating... Our application was received Feb 28 2017 and still hasn't been approved.

Question for sponsors: when the sponsors are approved, what sort of notification do you receive, and are you required to do anything once you have been approved as a sponsor? My wife is my sponsor and we have had many issues with CIC having the wrong email address for her, despite many efforts trying to get it changed. An agent on the phone acknowledged they had the incorrect email address and it was input wrong on their end (no fault of our own) and no matter how many web forms both from her and myself and phone calls, we still can't get it changed.

So she probably won't receive the approved sponsor email because it will go to the wrong address. Does she need to follow up or do anything once this has been sent?

Any help will appreciated. Thanks

no follow-up is required if the sponsor is approved. you'll see DM on sponsor's side on ecas. your side will change to "in process".

Just checked and yes you are correct! Thank you, that's a bit of relief. My wife obviously did not receive the approval email so we don't know what it says, but would you have any idea what the email may say?

thanks again

You have met the requirements for eligibility as a sponsor. The Application for Permanent Residence
(APR) for your relative will be processed separately and he/she will be contacted shortly.
If you received this communication via email, please note that another copy will not be mailed to you.
Reminder - Your undertaking is an unconditional promise of support
The undertaking you signed is an unconditional promise to financially support and provide basic
requirements for your sponsored relative(s). This undertaking is not broken by such changes as the
granting of Canadian citizenship, divorce, separation, relationship breakdown, moving to another
province, or a change in your financial situation. Furthermore, it cannot be cancelled once a final
decision has been made on their APR.
If your family member's APR is approved, your obligations as a sponsor begin as soon as your
sponsored relative and, if applicable, their accompanying family members become permanent residents
of Canada. If your family member entered Canada on a temporary resident permit following an APR,
your obligation will begin on the date of that entry to Canada. Your obligations for your family member
will end as follows:
Spouses, common-law partners - 3 years from the date on which permanent resident status
is granted.

thanks! Ut says if it was emailed that a copy will not be mailed, which is frustrating as my wife obviously did not get the email. Hopefully we can get a hold of them to send it again
