I haven't got my PR yet and I am with the redditors that the immigration levels are too damn high and it will cause a catastrophe for the new immigrants landing there and to citizens. They need to expand their cities and infrastructures otherwise it is unreasonable to make life miserable for most of the people there.

Not only people but affordable housing as well. The point I am trying to make is that if Canada is bringing so many young professionals, they have to work out their licensing procedures. Otherwise, Canada won't get the various benefits that come with immigration, especially on this scale. So far, the country is getting a benefit of younger population which might increase their birth rate.
Yes, and thats where Ontario and BC fail like hell. They do not want to release crown land (Canadian for public or government land) for construction. It keeps prices and rents un-necessarily high.

And then there is municipalities. The richer ones are worse. Victoria takes 3-4 months to clear a simple building permit. Langford 2 weeks. OakBay about an year and Saanich 2 generations.

Richest is Oakbay and "poorest" municipal is Langford. It makes no sense. Saanich has most land. :/

Point is, housing issues are more Provincial and municipal. Federal level they can override it but then all the provinces and cities will come thumping constitution and crying federalism. Which means Canada is screwed.

I agree with that. All the people who do not have support from bank of mom and pop are finding it hard. That means a lot of 20s 30s people. Too bad the entire Canada is essentially a hell lot of 60s and 70s and 80s.

I just closed my house deal... It was not a pleasant experience.
Congrats, my guy!!!! I want to be in your place one day lol. So far, my wife and I are leaning towards working hard and saving even harder until we get our citizenship and then purchase a place in Barcelona or Lisboa or Milano, and work remotely.

Thank you! Victoria is a great place to retire if you have sorted out your housing. For me thats 30 years in future.

Oh, you will be so surprised when you land in Canada. If you land in Toronto or Vancouver, be ready to be rejected for a place just because. If you land in smaller provinces, be ready to just be bored to death. I went to Manitoba for a conference (in Winnipeg) once ... I changed my opinion about how boring Waterloo was.

Canada in 1 line ,"Exploit the new comers when it is your turn then continue the cycle"
Canada in 1 line, "Exploit whomsoever you can exploit and look progressive and all goody goody".

Canada's long term plan is to grow to 100 million by 2100. For that it will need a 1.2% annual growth rate. That can only happen with 400K+ immigrants a year if Canada only adds 60K or so per year by itself. Given that majority of population is old, it will see increase in deaths going forward. Baby boom of 40s-50s will be depression of heads by 2030-40. So 500K presently is NOT really a unrealistic number.
That 100 million target has been suggested by ex-prime minister Brian Mulroney.

Reaching that goal by 2100, you would basically have more than 50% immigrants in the country. In what world do they think that is a good idea first and secondly, who would allow such a thing to happen. Even if both Liberals and Conservatives would agree on it, a third party will show up in the political scene and take charge. It will be inevitable. The latest democratic country to manifest this is Italy in September, Georgia Meloni becoming prime minister.

If Canada is really concerned about the birth rates, why no offer incentives for every child being born. My third world country offers $1,200 as a bonus for the first child and it increases for every child you will have. Its something. I bet if they offer like $10k-$20k per child they would bring a lot of LOVE into the air instantly. If you think about it, its nothing. 350k children are born every year, with the incentive that might reach 1 million or more perhaps. $20 Billion spent in helping parents deal with their new borns will be a direct investment into the economy, literally. Money for milk/food/diapers/check-ups/etc. Those who are on the verge of thinking to be parents or have a second baby will jump ship in a heart beat. Sooner or later someone will come up with this idea and probably become a Prime Minister. I would vote on the spot for him/her.

They keep complaining that there is a huge lack of doctors/nurses/plumbers/carpenter/etc, then for GOD's sake invite them as an absolute freaking priority. Leave the grandpas and grandmas aside for a while, they don't need the freaking PR, they can get along fine with a supervisa. Ridirecting those 28,000 reserved for them to doctors/nurses, you would solve an actual immidiate national emergency. But no, they wont do that.

I have friends in Canada who work in professional trades and they are making a killing. $400 days are almost the norm and $1000 ones are not that uncommon too. They way I see things, I will get into trades too and setup my own company in the long run, and leave my career behind. I am not passing on $200k yearly just for the sake of working in an office or whatnot. If Canada is needing a painter/plumber/electrician, I am becoming one. Adapt and Overcome.

Even if they do, those doctors cannot work in Canada. There are regulated professions and being a doctor means that one needs to go through a challenging process of getting a license.

I imagine some kind of tests are mandatory before jumping into the profession and I fully back that up, but they should come up with a plan or shortcut for 1-2 years to allow the positions to be filled ASAP.

Some kind of exception that wont compromise the professions. "Nothing changes, if nothing changes."

Of course, they should. That's the primary issue; they are not doing that. Nothing changed since 2017 when I moved. Just wait times are getting longer and longer.

No one in Canada is anti-immigration. People just ask valid questions. As a newcomer, I ask the same question. Where to live? Can I get a help on time since I am paying for those via taxes anyways? The current 12-17 hours wait at ER is just not acceptable.
