I see most people getting portal emails and their BG status changing from in progress to we are processing. For me though, it was always showing as we are processing from my AoR onwards. Not sure what to make out of it. Can't tell if my BG is actually started or not. The last GU came in June 7. No status changed online. AoR March 19. This is going against the pattern seen for others. Confusing.

@buzzard Only few people got this background check status. Others never got any update on background check status. You should be good. What's your timeline by the way?

Well, if the status stayed the same from the beginning, I guess it's not really an update ? Or at least there is no way to tell or track like you guys when your status flipped from "We are processing" ( at the beginning or AoR ) to "In Progress" ( Some where in the middle ) and then back to "We are processing" ( when it actually started processing ) again. If I understood this process correctly.

My timeline is -
AoR - March 19
Mep - April 06
Bio - Exempted
Eligibility - Passed per IRCC call on April 30
Criminality - Same as above
Background - Not started ( Per last call on June 4 )
GU - June 7 ( Not sure what it's for )
No Updates online after that.
Ordered GCMS today.

Haven't seen many cases that has similar BG status like me since AoR. Or may be I haven't come across one.

You will get the COPR soon my friend. Don't worry. GCMS notes are not accurate when it comes to the security. It says not started but in most cases officer starts the background check in background and it's not updated. IRCC agent said that it's not started but it's not always true. I saw many people who had security status not started and when they got the COPR then they realized that the security was already started sometime ago. I hope this helps.

I am not sure about that tbh, I think by the time one gets the CoPr, the overall/final status under GCMS notes should say Approved. If there is a case to prove me wrong, please share it by all means.

Regarding the Security, I would say if the Eligibility has been fully passed, just assume that Security has started. Also, Security is that one component which can vary significantly from one person to another, so there is no real pattern we can follow about it.

You have asked the golden question:p
On a more serious note, if your BG is same as this thread’s title, then most probably you passed Eligibility, so at least that should put you at ease requirements wise. If your spouse is outland, then unfortunately you might have to wait a bit longer for the CoPr due to covid policies.

Thanks for your input. Hopefully that is the case. Fingers crossed. And hopefully the March batch will graduate soon.

I guess my stay in the US could also delay the process. I had to give a FBI certificate. But I wonder if that comes under criminality.
