- On a Young Professional Work Permit
- Locked-in employer, Company A

Events
August, 2016 - Started working for employer (Company A).

October, 2016 - Worked for employer for 2 months, before the team I was on was spun out into it's own company (Company B) and my employment was transferred there.
Different corporation, different CPA number, originating in the parent corp (Company A).

April, 20717 - I've continued to work for the new employer, for 7 months, before realizing that I might've completely broken my terms.
New employer has started LMIA process to get me an LMIA for an eventual Permanent Residency.

Questions
- How do I found out if I have broken the terms of my permit? (what are the legalities)
- If I have broken the terms, how can I fix the situation?
- Could this make me inadmissible to Canada?
- How does the CIC find out if I have broken the terms of my work permit? (I'd like to be the one that reports it)

Thanks for any wisdom.

Yes - it sounds like you've broken the terms of your Young Professional visa by working for a different employer. This is only allowed for very specific reasons (e.g. old company closes, employer isn't paying you the right wages, you were laid off) and you have to apply to change the terms of your IEC before you can change employers.

I don't think there's any way to retroactively fix this issue. I think you'll just have to hope for the best and maybe CIC won't do anything about it (or won't notice).

Good luck.

The option that you have that I can think of is change your type of work permit from Young Professional to regular work permit in Canada.
Go to CIC website and search Change Your Work Permit.
Don't give up the hope! I think you still have a good chance.

a young professional permit is one of the working holiday categories and cannot be simply exchanged for any other type of permit. The OP would need to apply independant of the YP program and as indicated follow through with an LMIA.

No - that's not how it works. First of all, you're changing the conditions of the YP work permit (not getting a regular work permit). Also, you have to do that before you switch employers. You can't switch employers and then apply to change conditions later.
