So , I'm in a bit of a conundrum here!

I applied for my closed work permit application on 14th march 2017, but then i got news that the LMIA exemption code used for my offer of employment number was wrong. So my employer quickly submitted another application with the correct LMIA exemption code on the employer portal and gave me a new Offer of employment number.

I sent that new number through case specific enquiry on 5th april. Today I called CIC to confirm if the new number has been added in the file or not. The agent told me that for work permit applications, once its submitted, no new documents can be added, but she said she have added the new number in the notes, even though there is not guarantee that the visa officer will consider the new number while processing.

My current permit is expiring on 30th april, I'm just confused, should i wait for the processing of the online application and hope that the officer will consider the new number??

or should i go to the border and get the permit extended there, while the online application is processing?? (can that even be done?? new application while old one is prcessing??)

Any help will be highly appreciated.

Man! If I were you I would wait let's say around 7business days before the WP expires. If by then there is no update, I'd make a second online application with the correct LMIA exemption. I myself would never go to the border as I am someone with values and really would not put myself in such risk (border is never guaranteed for WP...)
Your second application will sure cost you and extra 155$, but it's better then restoration status because once you apply the 2nd time it gives you more implied status time. And nothing keeps you from making 2 applications. Judging on ur time frame I think you should have time to have news from the first application.
Myself my permit expired 2 days ago, I applied for the permit on march 8th. Still no answer. No answer about correction I submitted via case inquiry neither. So I applied making sure everything is correct a second time 4days ago, So if they give me any bad news for the first one, at least when I applied the second time my permit was still valid. (Implied status)

Hey Woodroc,

Thanks for the sound advice. There has been no reply from CIC regarding my application. Any news for you regarding your previous application?

I have talked to lots of people who have extended their permit at the border and they said it was breeze for them, but I'm still skeptical about that.

I'll be waiting two more days for any response from CIC and then have to take some decision.
