Hi everyone

I would like to have some opinions on my problem here!

I recently filed for my study permit extension, and after submitting everything, I realized that I accidentally filled out my full name in IMM5709 under the column of "given name", so now my applicant name shows my surname twice. I have filed out the IRCC web form but haven't received any response yet. Also, I called IRCC twice and the two agents I spoke to had utterly different sayings:

1. the first one told me that my name was my fine on their end. Also, I checked that under my application details, the principal applicant name was correct but my client name still showed my surname twice.

2. The second agent frightened me to hell as he said that I might withdraw my application and stuff.. he was just ranting the same thing on and on... that he can't advise me on anything.

Please help me out as I am very stressed out regarding this..

If you sent the webform, they will take care of it and correct the error. So, do not worry. It happened to me where my last name appeared twice and submitted the web form, and they corrected it.

can you please provide me an estimate of how long would it take them to fix it. I submitted my application on 13th Feb and noticed the mistake the next day and filled the webform on 14th feb. My application status is "submitted" at the moment.

Give it a maximum of 1-2 weeks; they already received an incoming message connecting to your application. It may not show the changes on your end, but they probably changed it on their end.

You applied from within Canada? I will be doing the same very soon, also do you know that you can work full time after receiving your official program completion mail till 150 days before your next course begins.

I applied from USA. You mean after receiving grades for that semester or?

This happened to me literally today. I sent my application for a Study Permit earlier this morning and found out I wrote my whole name in the Given Names section. Already filled the webform and sent the corrected MM1294E and my passport so they can check/match my name. Hopefully I get a response soon as I'm feelings so anxious rn haha.

This gives me so much hope tho. How much time it took for they to get back to you?

I never heard from them, I just saw the changes in my account.

Okay, so I just received the BIL today and it came with the misspelled name. Should I wait for a new, updated one before scheduling a biometrics appointment?

I actually took my biometric with wrong names. Just let them know you did raise the issue and they can actually change the correct name on their end.

Hi sir

I saw my portal today and I observed a change, I saw that my portal still shows the surname twice in my application in the list of applications, but when I specifically open my study permit extension application, it shows the principal applicant name as the correct one. Does this mean that the problem is fixed?
