Hi,

I just got my study permit from the airport, but I realized that my country of birth was wrong. I was born in Ecuador but was granted the Mexican citizenship. When I applied my study permit I used my mexican passport and specified on the application form my country of birth is Ecuador.

However, the officer put MEXICO as my country of birth in my study permit. Now I am in Canada, my classes will start next week. I dont know if this mistake would prevent me from enroll the school and also affect me for future application.

I heard that I need to send my study permit to Ottawa in order to be corrected. If I do so, will I be out of status, since I have to send the original hard copy.

Have you guys have come across with this situation? Please help what should I do?

No reason it would prevent you from registering, do your registration then contact ircc by phone and see what they say, sending the permit would not make you out of status. Keep a scanned copy of the permit.
