once I print my forms - are you allowed to " HAND WRITE " present in the date boxes.

example : from to
1988- 08 -08 present

yes you are allowed to handwrite present, this is minor bug in the online forms , in the next versions CIC should add present

This doesn't happen to be related to the ones that generate a bar code when validated, right?

Because I don't think it can validate when the box is left empty.

The updated forms can be left blank. I was advised NOT to handwrite on forms that require validation. Instead, I wrote a sheet listing extra details for each IMM form and noted "present" where there were blank spots as applicable.

I filled out my forms last week. The old ones were a pain and couldn't be left blank.

Don't see what the issue would be to write present in a box?

Anyone know if these imm forms get scanned? When they get to the VO
as the IO surely wouldn't mind na or present on the form

CIC don't like blank spaces, and it is the reason many applications are returned, they may assume that you forget , in their tutorial vidoes they say if it is not applicable put n/a don't leave information blank!

Hi all
So assuming they do not allow blank and not not allow handwriting on the validated forms how can one describe to the "present"
I do not think the solution to have another word document (on top of all the rest) to explain why you do not have a date.
To give you an example
In form "Sponsored Spouse Partner Questionnaire [IMM 5490]" in the section that says" H/ave you and your sponsor lived together?"
if I put let's say today's date would they assume that the relationship has ended? or would they take it as the "to present"

We simply put the same DATE of application (ie "today's date") in all those boxes requiring the word "present".

how can that be right? as from then to means you have left and they may think that.

present means your still there

there are so many people that have there PR how come know one really knows

I wrote on the forms after they were validated. I didn't hear anything.

I called CIC directly about this exact question and they advised you can use the date which the application was signed or write present.
Either one is acceptable.
