We got married in March 2017 and we were unable to file the application till November 2017, because by the time we collected the paperwork the forms got changed and we had to start from scratch with the forms.
Our medical and police reports have reached them and file is stuck "in process" since past few months.
It was a recently brought to my attention by somebody else that the vsa officer might raise an objection/question that I have not visited her in one and a half years, since our wedding. A monthly visit to India would cost me around $10,000 due to the nature of my job and absence of a paid leave; moreover I am trying to accumulate savings for us, for our future.

Question:
I was wondering if it is advisable to write a personal letter to the visa officer, describing the dynamics of our current relationship and highlighting how the delay is impacting our lives, and requesting them to speed up the process of her immigration?
Please share if you had similar experiences with delay.

No - this kind of letter won't help. If you want to send anything, send further evidence of your relationship to support the fact it's genuine.

I honestly agree with the VO. A year and a half is a very long time not to visit or see your spouse. If at all possible, take a trip. Even if it's just a couple of weeks.

they do not do this bring your case up front because there is people ahead of you

This won't help. Plenty of people are in your situation and are able to visit their spouses. Have you considered going for 2 weeks instead of a month? Have you invited her over on a visitor visa yet? Have you thought about working 2 jobs to save up enough to go for a month?

1.5 years of not seeing each other would definitely be an issue.

Has the VO requested this information from you? If they haven't requested information from you, there's no real point in sending it. Consider making a trip, or having backup documentation of how you are staying connected to your wife in the meantime.
