Wow-Singapore moved fast...

...and almost TOO fast.

My wife got the PPR request today (that's the good news).

Bad news is that her medical expires Nov. 18, and her passport October 15!!! (UGH!)

We can get her passport renewed by end of month, and THEN it goes back to CIC, by way of the Canada Visa Application Center.

The text of the email said, "Your medical report is valid till 2015/11/18 and so is your visa. Please advise the Canada Visa Application Centre that your case is urgent due to the short visa validity period."

While we are beyond delighted that we are almost done, by guestimation, we should have the Passport, PR Visa and CoPR in our hands around Nov. 5 (more or less).

We must be in Canada no later than the 17th November (probably leave a few days earlier to account for possibility of travel delays, etc.)

That leaves 10 days roughly to wrap up work and business affairs, and pack and move (thanksfully not lots of stuff to pack...).

10 days...That's INSANE!!!

Any of the veterans on this board run into a situation like this? Any advice?

Congrats on the good progress at least!

But wow, your wife will really have a short window to land! That is rough.

One alternate option (and it is a costly one) is to simply fly to Canada ASAP so your wife can do her official landing and then return back to Singapore(?) to wrap up things at a more leisurely pace and come back to Canada when both of you are ready. But basically you'd be eating the cost of a roundtrip ticket from Singapore which is quite costly, not to mention the time wasted.

I suppose she can also request CIC for an extension on her visa/COPR validity since she has a good reason. But I'm not sure how easily they grant extensions.

Why do you need to wait until the then to start preparing for the move to Canada. Start from now. You have 6 weeks not 10 days !!

Did you book your plane ticket yet? I will be doing my landing on Nov 19th. What route that you planning to go? I have to go through Kuala Lumpur - Hong Kong - Toronto - Halifax. That's the cheapest and easiest route for us but the flight from Hong Kong to Toronto is the longest one. Don't know if my 2 kids will enjoy that.

Anyway, good luck to you and your wife! Hope that you guys get everything done and can land before her visa expired. Good thing for us is that we can get to Canada on the same day that we left!

The same thing is happening to me in which my medical will expire next month Oct 2015 and CiC said that the validity of my visa is within this date and that the date cannot be extend, this is so close and l am not really happy about it because there is no time to prepare yourself and they also said in the email that don't sell your properties or buy flight ticket yet until you have your visa at hand, l don't know the reason why CIC operate this way by putting people in tight situation, right now l cannot buy ticket, l cannot make solid arrangement concerning departure until l have the visa at hand
Any idea on what to do please? Maybe l should just go ahead to buy the ticket now.

Couldn't agree more.

In the letter we received, it specifically cautions us not to make any irrevocable decisions - selling property, quitting job, etc., UNTIL we get the PRV, CoPR, and passport back.While she can pack, etc., she can't give formal notice to her boss, nor can she close her bank accounts etc. until we get the paperwork. It's rotten to give an employer, especially one as gracious and accommodating as hers, such little amount of notice.

Yes, it's frustrating. Weeks and months (and for many - years) of waiting, then RUSH, RUSH, RUSH.

Please don't get me wrong - my wife and I are so very pleased we are so close to the end of this stressful journey, and can finally close the distance, BUT, the amount of time for this almost-last step is pretty crappy.

I wouldn't buy the ticket just yet. I know it's not fair, but unless it is a refundable ticket, you are at risk of wasting the money if there is an issue while you wait for the visa/CoPR. We were told by CIC to tell the Visa Handling Centre to handle it as URGENT, die to short time frame on the validity. Also, at the bottom of Appendix C, it made note that it was an URGENT issue, for the same reason. As such, let's hope that we won't have to wait the full 90 days for the final package.

Incidentally, I thought I read somewhere here that one couple got their passport back in only 9 days. Maybe you guys and we will also be so lucky.

Till no decision letter or not contacted with us from cic sgvo as our lvo.
Here our timeline:-
Application filed cpcm july 2010.
Additional document request sept 2014
sponsorship approved march 2015
File transfer to local visa off.Singapore march 2015
Ecas changed our file received by sgvo march 2015
Ecas again changed to started procesing on 28 may 2015
On 25 june 2015 Singapore visa office request by our email for medical and rpef deposit letter.
We parents with 1 dependent complited our medical at cic nomineted physician on 8th july 2015
Ecsa changed to medical has been received on 14th july 2015
Ecas again changed on 30th july 2015 to decision has been made cic offce will contacted with concern DM.
Till today nothing yet from cic Singapore.even sent email to them three time but no reply from cic.
Please advise what we will do ?

You should send an email to cic Singapore that u did not get any letter regarding ur decision after ur ecas changed to decision made..or you can send an case specific enquiry to them describing your whole situation.

Actually after decision made we sent 3 email to Singapore visa office unfortunately they are not respond yet.
How can do case pacific enquiry I dont know if you give us some idea how can we do for case pacific enquiry.
