would I still eligible to apply PGWP if I left one year from my current program?

Due to some reason, I want to leave my current study program for one year and back to my country.
I saw the policy of application of PGWP states that student can only be authorized leave for maximum for 150 days. However, my adviser said I m good to leave one year as long as I won't stay in Canda and my study permit is not expired.
I m confused now, can someone tell me would I still eligible to apply PGWP if I left one year from my current program?
