Hi everyone, hope you are safe and healthy. this is my first time applying for Canadian visa / study permit and my first post in this forum.

i heard in many forums and websites that the approval rate every year decreases from 75 in 2016/2015 to around 60% in 2020

i spent days writing my LOE and providing all details about my study plan / background and future plans with my ties to home country. but hearing refusals stories from many applicants kinda made me worried.

this is my profile

23 years old - no gaps in education

study permit in turkey / Sweden and internship permit in Denmark

previous travel history to 10 countries in Europe

3.73 gpa and 7.0 ielts .. 43,000 cad available for proof of funds ( affidavit of support with my father's saving account )

current intern in the biggest company in terms of commercial film and marketing in my country

my field of study is the same as my prior and current internship and the choice of program in Canada.

do you guys think i have high chances of getting my study permit approval. i am worried since i am from an African country and canada accepts one application out of 4 in Africa.

would appreciate the help.

You have chances but final decision rests with visa processing officer. Lift your head up and have confidence. Make a convincing case and you can get approval. I dont believe those status that they accept 1 application out of 4, thats not true. Its case to case basis

It's not clear what level of studies you have already completed and what program (and school) you plan to attend in Canada. These answers will make a difference.

Good luck.

i completed bachelor's degree of art in film in 2020. the program was theoretically oriented and i wanted to expand my practical skills in film. so i applied and got admission for screen arts ( film ) diploma in a college in halifax. the only program in halifax that focuses in film practices.

Ideally the program you applied for in Canada should have been a post graduate diploma. If it's a regular diploma, this will lower the chances of approval.

thank you for your reply. its true that i should have applied for post graduate. the problem all the programs in film for post graduate were so expensive. i am planing for master degree of fine art and my current degree doesn't meet the the requirements as i need more courses in film production ( i mentioned above that my program was more academic and theoretical ) hence i wanted an affordable and a practical program and i found the right one. i explained that in my LOE with my future goals of being film director with ties to the current company i work for as paid intern and possible future employment.

Well there's nothing you can do now but hope for the best. Good luck with your application.
