Workpermit from india

Hi

I have few questions related to applying workpermit from india;

1. I'm holding valid workpermit from my current employer(in india) till 31st May; I was there in canada for 2 years and currently in india and I got job offer from one of new employer from canada.

2. I did not resign current employer ;
3. New employer applied for LMO and got positive response ; LMO Approved for 3 years;

4. Next step is new employer attorny is going to send papers to file work permit application;

Questions:

1. How long is the process taking now?
2. Will consulate hold passport from the time of submitting application to till we receive visa?
3.can we obtain possport and travel outside india , while work permit application in process?

Hello,

Congratulations for your Job offer! You are lucky to find a genuine employer who took so much pain for you to do LMO.

The process is simple, it will take max 30days to get a work permit approval from CHC (Delhi/CHD), you need to send an application to Canadian High Commission near your city along with:
1) LMO received through your prospective employer
2) An Employment contract copy, i.e. Job contract between you and your employer
3) Your Passport Copy
4) $150CAD fees

You will be required to submit medical test which can take one week.

you may receive the work approval letter in 30days max and when u reach port of entry (airport) you will be issued work permit at Immigration check-in counter.

YES Medicals are compulsory when u apply TWP as VISA office abroad.

Jitu, what I meant was....were the medicals done BEFORE submitting the application, OR, was the WP application submitted and the medicals were then requested?

First application is made to VISA Office, they send the medical letter with a list of Doctor. Medical reports has to be complete (I guess) with in 15days and as soon as you submit the reports ( In Delhi) you get VISA stamped in 7 days.

Hi Jitu - thanks again for responding. Our friend did his medicals BEFORE finishing his application. I am just trying to figure out how long it will take once he applies. With the meds already in, it sounds as if it could be very fast. That WOULD be nice as his new boss is anxious for him to start.

Can you guys please let me know what additional documents we should be submitting along with documents mentioned in email trail; I guess passport should be with them for atleast 30 days till visa gets processed?
