working while studying, work permit needed?

Do you need a work permit to do part time jobs while you are studying?
And what are the conditions of such part time jobs?

1, yes you need a work permit to work part time jobs off campus
2. you get a work permit automatically
3. you cannot work more than 20 hours officially using the Social Insurance Number(SIN) which will keep a record of where you have been working

look up student work permit in CIC website(this forum wont let me post link i dont know why)

Hi, with the changes found here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/study/study-changes.asp you no longer need a work permit, your study permit will allow you to work 20 hours per week during school days & full time on school breaks.
