Working Remotely while Applying Inland

I am an American, applying inland for Spousal. I sent my application away in July and am awaiting AOR, OWP, but have not received any news. In the meantime, my former US employer has offered me a contract to work remotely for them on-line. I would be paid in American funds. Is this allowable or must I wait until I receive my OWP?

As long as you don't in any way impact the Canadian labour market or involve Canadian clients, you are probably safe.
