No, i haven't asked that question, i would check that tomorrow and keep you posted.
Sure, please do. Also, please make sure to mention "Do I need to get initial H1b visa stamp on passport from the embassy if I want to enter after 2-3 months or just the initial i 797A &i 94 would be enough?" Thanks!

Hi Hariraj,

i got your point regarding her B1. I am done with my landing last year in August. This is the first time i am entering Canada after becoming PR, that is reason i asked for goods to follow information, if they can be moved later also.

My PR card is in canada with a friend. So, is my Copr good for travel this time, is my question. Thankyou.
Yes COPR+Passport for traveling via road using own/rental car/truck.

@swan0206 Did you get a chance to call the CBP at Peace Arch today?
Hi,
Yes i have called them yesterday. I have called to cbp at champlain QC. And the officer there told that they i am eligible as long as i have a valid i94 and i797 , why would you bother about 30 days, because you have all valid documents. Seems like he is not aware of AVR rule, but he is on only one point you are good to go.

i have been through this point year back. They are coolest. They took our passports and asked how many days was your trip and gave our passports back.

Below is the criteria to use for AVR
1. travel is less than 30 days
2. You need to travel to one country only- either Canada, Mexico and nearby islands
3. You should not have any visa interviews( non immigrant visas) scheduled/ rejected
4. Approved i797 or i20’s

refer below for more details of AVR:
https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/visa-information-resources/visa-expiration-date/auto-revalidate.html

You can have an interview scheduled, but you shouldn't have attended it to use AVR. For US non immigrant visa 'attending interview' = applying, 'scheduling interview or filling ds160' <> applying.

Basically you need a expired visa that has not been 'cancelled' when you enter using AVR.. if you attend an interview, they'd cancel the old visa, hence it cannot be used for AVR

Hi Hari,

i tried searching for my questions but couldn't find any. As we have to quarantine for 14 days after entering canada, is it ok to carry minimum grocery(like rice, spices and few dishes?) along with our luggage?

Asking this question because we are not moving the goods right now. Thanks in Adv.

Folks, has anyone been able to travel back to US from Canada with expired visa stamp and valid I-797. Kindly share your experience.

A slightly different question- Is it more expensive for companies to switch an employee to the Canadian payroll from a US payroll? My company told me *they* have to pay higher taxes for me and increases the employee cost. My company has offices in both countries.

I have a H1B and have a Canadian PR.
