That's true but better you check with your checklist asked by CIC.

settlement funds are not required only in case of

"If the applicant has arranged employment as defined in R82,they do not have to meet these financial requirements"

So, only if you are a Cat 2 applicant, you are exempt. A job/WP without HRSDC approval will not qualify for the above exemption...

thanks guys for clarifying it.

Regards,

pls ignore my previous comment....

"the applicant is currently working in
Canada on an HRSDC- confirmed
temporary work permit (including
sectoral confirmations), pursuant to
R82(2)(a)"

qualifies for AEO, Cat 2... so, I'm confused and hence taking back my previous comment

pls wait for others to reply

Thanks aanbaan , since i am working on a work permit approved by HRSDC so i may not need to submit proof.

WOuld you be able to share the source for this?

Thanks,

OP6 manual...

reachmenow - have you already submitted to CIO? Or are you preparing the initial application?

I am also in Canada on a valid work permit but was evaluated as Cat 3 by CIO. I thought I would be exempt from proof of funds, but others say no, that only Cat 2 applicants are exempt (by new rules).

To qualify as Cat 2, besides the valid work permit, the other thing you need is a letter from your current employer stating you will have permanent / indefinite employment if you obtain permanent residence. (This is the thing I am lacking, since where I work, everyone is on renewable, fixed term contracts - there is no "permanent" employment).

So I am very interested in your experience...

you'll find OP6 in the list.

hello all,

FSW3 will have to submit proof of funds, its exempt only for cat2.

by the way i submitted mine on July 2, reached on july 6/

@ Jes_On,

i also couldnt get letter from employer stating employment upon PR to be able to qualify for cat 2, i am also on a renewable work permit, however i could get the duties letter from them.
let me know if you have any questions related to cat 3.

thanks
