Hello

My fiancé and I are getting married in Jan 2014. I am 27 and would like to apply for a Canadian working holiday visa once we are married. My fiancé is 32 and is not eligible to apply for a working holiday visa and so he was planning on coming out on a 6 month tourist visa and then looking for a job once we are out there.

Once he has found a job, is he able to apply for a work permit? If so does he have to apply outside the country? If so does this have to be back in the UK (where we are from) or can he just cross the border and apply in the USA?

Any extra information on this type of set up would be great. Our work skills our in Insurance and Events Management and so they are not required skills out there so we thinking it would be better to find work once out there!

Many thanks

Isobel

It would be easiest if he goes to the nearest USA border crossing and applies for the work permit at the border. As long as his job doesn't require a medical, he can do it. Just make sure to have all the requirements, forms, and fee ready for the IO.
