Working for Summer

I am a student and was just wondering if I wanted to work in Canada for a summer - I'd apply for the 2 year visa, but would only be staying for the summer.

Is there any issues around me returning back to Canada at any other stage if I don't stay the 2 years? Can I apply for another visa in a few years if I wished?

Your question is very confusing.

A TRV does not allow you to work in Canada. To work in Canada, you would need to secure a work permit. To secure a work permit, you generally need a full time job offer from an employer in Canada along with an approved LMIA (which are very difficult to secure).

Or are you asking about an IEC / working holiday visa?
