Hi guys

Does anyone know if working at a Canadian Embassy or the Trade Commissioner Service office counts towards my days to fulfill my residency obligations while outside Canada?

Thanks

"At" or "For"? There might be a HUGE difference. For example, if you were an local agency cleaner who just happened to be working at an embassy, I think that the answer would be a definite "NO".

I guess I mean "for". As in hired by the Embassy here for some office-type work. Would that be considered? or do I have to be assigned by the Canadian government in Canada and sent out to work in the embassy abroad (which is not the case)?

I can point you at the specific legislation. I think that you will have to see how close you come to matching it. However, my intuition makes me believe that you don't (quite) come under the exemption. It's the whole business of being "assigned"...

No, you are considered LES (Locally Engaged Staff) as you weren't hired in Canada and then assigned to overseas posting.
