Hi all,

Please at what point does CIC issue the work permit for the spouse? Is it after review of eligibility or before? Also why is our review taking soo long. Its almost being a year we submitted our application to sponsor inland??

2-4 months after the application is submitted provided you have status in Canada when you apply.

Yeah usually it’s about 4 months after you apply.. it’s been a year? Did you send in the OWP application at the same time as PR application? If so, I’d call to find out if they are missing something to process or maybe there’s some other issue. Did you receive any correspondence from CIC at all?

Agreed these are important questions. Was the OWP application included with the inland sponsorship application? Did the applicant have valid status in Canada when the application package was sent? If everything wasn't sent together and/or the applicant was out of status at any point in the process, this is likely the reason for the delay.

Thanks for the responses. Submitted application at the same time as promised but wp got sent back and directed to vergreville. She had status at the time of application. No one picks the CIC phone. Requested for gems notes and saw the application indicated there but till now Nothing!

1. It should have went to Mississauga.
