Hello Guys,

I know that you can qualify for CEC with less than one year experience but you will not receive the points for CRS. I also know that your work experience under CEC does not have to be continuous but can someone please verify if I get 2 years experience points or just one year experience?

June 02 2014 - Nov 11 2014 - I worked under noc code 1241

Nov 12 2014 - March 11 2015 - unemployed and home on vacation

March 25 2015 - Nov 23 2015 - work done was NOC C and doesn't qualify for PR

Nov 30 2015 - July 2017 - I'm working in NOC B 1241 now and hopefully will be working in there till work permit expires.

Since I would have worked 1 year 8 months from Nov 2015 to July 2017 under NOC B and 6 months under NOC B in June 2014 to Nov 2014, does that add up to 2 years experience? Does it matter if the 6 months experience is from a recruitment agency?

Hi!

You need a minimum of 52 weeks of full time work to qualify. It's around 1500 hours in total and this can be a combination of part-time and full time work. The period that qualifies is within the 3 years from the time you apply for PR. It doesn't matter if the experience is from a recruitment agency. It's just have to de a job in the A or B NOC and not while being an student. In your case, it looks like you'd have 2 years, if you were working full time. But you can calculate the hours based on the 52 weeks (1500 hours). If I were you, I'd apply right after having the minimum hours. This is because it takes a long time and it's easier to apply while your work permit is still valid and you have plenty of time to sort things out. Take it from me, I had to wait till my permit was almost up and the amount of anxiety I went through the whole 19 months process was not fun.

a) It is OK if the experience is through a recruitment agency. However, you will need letters from both the agency and the client. Technically, the agency was your employer, but they will not be able to attest to the job duties you actually performed.

b) You don't say if you worked full time (30 more hours per week).

c) Assuming you did work full time - count the full WEEKs worked at Job 1, then count the WEEKs worked at Job 2 - when you have 52 weeks, you are eligible. No need to count hours at all, unless you worked part-time.

well things is, we cant apply PR immediately, we need to enter the silly pool in order to get invite :(. and that is not fun since you may not ever get invite if you at a low score

Hi everybody...

I have a question: I have a study permit and I have been working at a NOC B occupation since I got it (just 20h/week). Do you guys know if the time and hours that I have been working count for CEC?. I mean, when I finish my studies I'll already have 1.5 year experience and the 1560 hours (equivalent to 1 year full time work) that counts?, May I put on my express entry profile that I am working, even if I have an study permit? I know that i'm not doing anything illegal because my study permit says that I can work, but I don't know if that matters in terms of the profile?

Thanks.

Any experience gained prior to your PGWP issuance date will not be counted towards CEC.

Unforunately, work done under a study permit does not count ...

Ohhh that's really unfair!... Well thanks a lot for the answers... :(
its not really unfair as a study permit is for study not work. You are only allowed to do any work to supplement your living expenses not as a means to gain PR.
