Hey folks,

I've been turned down for an LMIA due to my lack of experience in my line of work. Bummer. So my girlfriend and I are seriously discussing marriage now. I've read about the new pilot scheme for granting work permits to people applying to family class. My question is is it possible for me to go to Canada as a visitor to get married and send off the application for PR along with an open work permit or do I need to be near the end of a valid work permit?

Thanks

Alma

Yes it is possible. So long as you are sure an inland application is best for your circumstances. OWP's are not available for outland applicants.

Thanks,

I wasn't aware you replied. How do mean by being best for my circumstances? I would have thought that that would be the best way. Atleast you can work there while the app goes through.

For an inland application you need status in Canada (explicit or implied) and then is the processing time. It depends on what you value more: getting PR sooner or being able to work in the meantime.
