Hi Folks,

I am a newbie here and apologise if the same concern has been addresses earlier.

I currently hold a valid job offer from a Canadian firm and the work permit process is being initiated by a law firm in Canada.

Among my dependents my 4yrs old has Autism and is undergoing Speech and Occupational therapy along with a normal school. Would this medical cause have an impact on my work permit application. We had our upfront medicals and I informed the PP about the therapies being received by
my kid.

Please advise/assist.

It will depend on how IRCC assesses the level of support your child will require in Canada and the costs of that support. Based on what you've described, it sounds like your child should be able to pass the medical. However it's difficult for any of us to say for certain and it's possible you may be asked to complete additional tests / exams. There is a thread somewhere on this forum that deals with parents in this situation - although I think it's focused on people who are applying for PR. Let me see if I can find it for you. There might be helpful information there. I would say that you should be prepared for longer than normal processing times. Good luck.

Here's the thread. It deals mainly with applying for PR but may still be helpful.

Hello
We are in the similar situation as you are and I was just wondering if you heard anything from IRCC about your child’s visa after this posting this.
If PPR received , Kindly also update me on the time taken to receive PPR for your child from date of application .Thank you!.

Hi There,

I haven’t yet received the PPR. My biometrics was completed on 7th March 2022. The application is handled by company’s attorney, so not aware of much updates unless we hear from them..

With regards to medicals, we had our upfront medicals.

Below are the time lines:

Upfront Medicals-27th Jan 2022
Additional Information request for Kid - 4th Feb 2022

(Information asked: Detailed report from
child development specialist including any therapy report and report from school whether any special assistance is needed)

Additional Information request submitted -11th Feb 2022

Biometrics-7th March 2022

Medical status updates -11th March 2022(Passed for all including my kid)

As per the trend of 2months (approx.) under GSS category I expect PPR somewhere around 1st week of May 2022.

What’s your state?

Thank you for your response.
We had completed upfront medical on September 31 , 2021.
we received additional documents request for our son, 4 years old who has language delays around October 15 , 2021.
We submitted all the documents by November 4, 2021.
We already had biometrics so didn’t have to do it again.
Our application was filed on 4 Jan 2022.
Both me and my husband received our PPR on March 4, 2022. Our son is yet to receive PPR.
Current Status says they are still reviewing his medical exam results, to check if he meets eligibility requirements . Not sure about the outcome!. We are very much worried.

The application was filed by company’s attorney who is in Canada, so not sure if the same is considered as applied from India or Canada. I consider it India as it’s under GSS(as stated by the attorney).

I didnt go through all the replies. But to answer the OP, One of my friend recently got his SOWP and landed in Canada with his family. His child has autism and he didnt face any issues.

Hi,
We are still waiting for our son’s PPR. Not sure how long the wait is going to be. I don’t think there is a WhatsApp group created yet for such queries.
