Work Permit will expire while waiting for Sponsorship PR to go through?

I'm currently living with my girlfriend. I'm from Germany a visa exempt country. My Youth Mobility Work Permit runs out at the end of May. I'll send out my TRP extension application on Monday when I have all the supporting documents. Is this the right form to be sending? We've submitted our sponsorship applications and they were recieved on March 26th. What I'm concerned about is if my work permit expires before I recieve my visitors permit will I again have to file a restoration or is my visitor status implied because I've applied more than the allocated 30 days before expiration? Another question in the extension application do I need to fill out the common law declaration?

If someone could help me out here I'd greatly appreciate it. The phone lines have been down at the CIC and I've tried calling over 30 times with no luck.
