Hi,
I was wondering how long will it take for an answer to job offer work permit visa. It has been 20 weeks already for line cook job offer in British Columbia which I have approached through a lawyer agency and don't have exact access to the application itself. I would like to know what is the usual time for that. tyvm.

Does your employer require or have a LMIA? Through a PNP program? Have you applied for the work permit with LMIA?

I'm in Iran, and applied my application through a BC law and consultant agency. I applied for line cook job and have LMIA number. i'm sorry i don't know which PNP program we're in.

If you applied for a work permit with LMIA then you should hear soon. What is your NOC…that would be on your LMIA? Have you paid any money? Don’t know what PNP program you are eligible for.

NOC is 6322, title cooks. yes already paid the agency. so since it has taken more than 20 weeks, it won't take more than month or two, right?

Paid how much and for what? Assume you are experienced as a cook. Have you done medical and biometrics?

10k $ for agency to find right employer and enroll for the application. and yes already done the paper work for medicine and done biometrics.

Wow….$10k. Hopefully it works out, and you get a positive response soon. Have you been nominated by BC?

This would be considered paying to secure a job and immigration in Canada which is actually a crime. I really hope you have a strong background in being a line cook and there is an actually restaurant and job where you will be working. Unfortunately many of these arrangements come with other illegal activity like paying the employer through wage payback schemes and therefore essentially falsifying pay records, taxes, etc. At the worst there isn’t any job or the person just sits there all day “working”. It takes a huge amount of resources to bring down one crooked consultant or lawyer and the punishments are minimal compared the the potential money they can make so many get away with the crime. People trying to immigrate are prepared to pay if they have no other options or want a “guarantee” but many discover that they end up being abused by their employer and sometimes for years past when they secure PR.
