Hello,

I hope this is the right thread to be posting this question on.

I am currently an international student in Canada (with a British passport and study visa). I graduate from university in Ontario in April/May 2015 so would like to apply for a work permit to stay and work in Canada. I currently have a job with a marketing company that is part time but can be made full time once I have graduated. However, I would also like to start a business in Canada and have the means to do so.

Here is the Question: When applying for the permit what would you advise I choose when selecting my main reason to stay in Canada? Should it be for a permanent job or to start a business?

Thanks in Advance

I would suggest you look into getting an IEC visa. This is a one year working holiday visa that you can apply for while finishing your degree. There are a limited amount per year so I would suggest doing some looking into it now.

If you could get that work visa then it would give you a year to look into your options for PR and time to gather any documents. There have been a lot of changes with the Express Entry opening up so asking people who have already started the process in a similar situation as you may not know what to tell you. So I would look into ways to buy yourself some time.
