I have already applied for my PR under FSW2013 and trying to explore the possibility of getting a work permit through a Canadian employer. I've been applying to jobs since the last 3 months to get some WP from a Canadian employer but no luck.
My questions:
1. If somehow I'm able to get an Employer who can file for my WP, will it have any impact on my PR app, the reason I ask is - I have heard that for a WP you need to prove that your intentions are not to permanently stay in Canada.
2. How soon, can I convert my WP into a PR - does it depend upon provinces?

If there's a indexed thread in the past for the similar information - like "qorax indexed" and if you can get me the link, that will be helpful.
I already posed this question in the Foreign Workers category but never got a response.

I read the "Come to Canada" wizard and see that one is eligble to apply for PR once they have completed 1yr of WP.
Not sure, if there's any impact to the current FSW application, which was just filed.
Does anyone know?

This would have no impact on the FSW application you just filed.

If are able to complete one year of skilled full time work experience in Canada, then you will qualify to apply for PR through the Canadian Experience Class program. CEC is a completely separate immigration stream. If you wanted to apply, you would have to submit another application from scratch.

One more question - suppose someone completes 1 yr under CEC and at that time FSW is not open, can you still apply or you have to wait for FSW to be open?

I think its open for CEC anytime, but just wanted to confirm.

Again, CEC is a completely different immigration program. It has nothing to do with FSW.

One last question - does it matter if someone's place of work is ON?
I mean the requirement is to complete 12 months full time and become eligible for PR. Is it the same for all Provinces (except Quebec)?
So, if someone works in BC or ON, they are eligible for PR after 1 yr automatically?

Hi Scylla,

Just want to ask if you know if I can bring my family using LOA. I have been nominated in YNP and I have TWP applications outside Canada (through LMO) I applied in Canadian Embassy NYC still waiting for approval. If my TWP approved I'll go to Canada right away. I'm still waiting for my original LOA, my employer advised me that she already received her copy. She told me that my husband and my daughter (5 y/o) can apply for open work permit (for my husband) and TRV (for my daughter). Is that possible? I got my nomination under Critical Impact Worker category (low skilled level), as far as I know only Skilled Worker category allows applicant to bring their family but since I have my nomination approved can they apply using our LOA? Our employer also submitted Guaranteed Employment Offer for my husband that she'll hire my husband once he get there. Is there by any chance that they can go to Canada and we will apply our LOA inside Canada? Your inputs are highly appreciated. Thanks :)

Temporary foreign workers who have worked for two years in Canada in a managerial, professional or technical capacity, including those in the skilled trades, are eligible to apply for permanent residence through the CEC.

I just read the above note on CIC's website, so now I'm really confused as to when can you file for your PR in CEC?

Those are the old requirements. New rules were put in place this year. If you are interested in CEC, join the CEC section of this forum.
