WORK PERMIT - NEW TRV

Dear Advisor

I have been re issued a new work permit (old expired) in Jan 2017 as part of the new spousal sponsorship program. Since the spousal sponsorship program is time taking, I feel I should apply for a new TRV and apply for express entry too. Reasons being, higher possibility to meet express entry draw limits and faster processing times. Please use your qualifications and expert opinion in answer the following.

1) Could I use the work permit issued through the spousal sponsorship program to apply for express entry?
2) Received new work permit on 26Jan2017, can I apply for a TRV or is it too late?

1) Yes you can apply to express entry
2) You can apply for TRV anytime.

I have been approved in principle for the spousal sponsorship and my lawyer has advised me not to worry about applying through express entry on the side. He says, I have been approved for PR and once we pay the PR fee, its only an interview thats pending for the final PR to arrive. Should I proceed with his advise or can I still apply for express entry on the side.

If you are approved for PR in one category, it's best note to apply on other category.
Follow your lawyer's guidelines.
