Work Permit issue

Hi everyone,

My WP was approved on June 3, but IRCC used information from my OLD PASSPORT that is now invalid. As a result, my WP will be expired in June 2022, not a 3 year expiration.
I uploaded both my New and Old passport when applying for WP and used my New one to fill out the application form but IRCC used my Old passport.

Please give me some advice for next steps. Thanks a lot!

You'd have to apply for a work permit extension before it expires. If it's a PGWP you have to apply on paper.

They used my Old passport Number and printed it on my WP that is now invalid because I have a New passport currently. What should I do now?

Your WP doesn't get invalidated because of that, your WP will still expire on the date it says.

Thank you so much.
However, I mean IRCC made an mistake because I used my New Passport when applying for WP whereas IRCC used my Old Passport instead. I would like a correction for my WP because it is not my fault and when I extend my WP I will pay fee and need to apply in paper. How could I request IRCC to grant me a new WP?

Hi guys, I have a different case, needing help here.


I have a job offer from the Uni of Guelph and would like to apply for Visa with work permit. When I fill out the questionnaires in the CIC website, the system generated "Visitor visa+no work permit". But as per my offer letter, it is mandatory that I should get a valid work permit.

FYI, I chose 'yes' for the question:

"Do you plan to work in one of the following categories”.

Then I continued with the application which ended up with just Visitor Visa application only, nothing about Work Permit in it.
I can not trust this application as it does not include Work Permit.

Please I need your advice here, I got stuck here

I have not yet submitted the application. I responded to the series of questionnaire on the website, then the system generated "Visitor visa+no work permit". I don not want to continue this application as I need a valid Work Permit.

I am applying form Australia
