Hi All,

I am a student at Lachute Aviation, Lachute,QC.

I am on a study Permit.

I've been in Canada for 1 yr and 3 months. What are the chances of me getting a Work Permit ?

I applied for PGWP but it got rejected. I am confused about the Off Campus Work Permit (Does the Permit get rejected if the Institution is not listed ?)

Thanks in advance :)

wht about college and education which u did ?

Your school isn't on the list of participating institutions recognized by CIC. This means that you don't qualify for an off campus work permit or a post graduate work permit. If you apply for either - you will be refused.

If you want to work, then you will have to find an employer who can obtain an approved Labour Market Opinion and then you will have to apply for a closed work permit.

Hi amankaur,

The thing is that my status in Canada expires on 31st Jan 2014. Also there are some financial problems so I wanted to extend my permit and apply for a work permit so that I could work part time and study. But that doesn't seem possible.

Hi Scylla, thanks for your reply.

I completed my CPL/ME/IR at Cornwall Aviation Ltd (Cornwall, ON) and at present I am doing my Instructor Rating at Lachute Aviation to increase my chances for a job.

Does anybody know if there is any other way I can work part time during my studies ? What about Volunteers (volunteer.ca) ?

You cannot work for pay unless you get a work permit first.

You can volunteer only if the position is something people are not normally paid to do. If you volunteer in a position that people are normally paid to do - it will still be classified as working illegally.

This means that it's fine to do something like volunteer at a church bazaar. However it is not OK to volunteer in a business office.
