I asked a similar question, but I'm still not clear re: the answer. Please help.

I am a cook in AB (B level). My employer just got a new LMO as my current work permit expires in Mar 2011. My family (wife and kids) just arrived from Korea. They stamped them as tourist in their passport and not as my dependent (even though I sent a photocopy of my work permit when they were coming into Vancouver.

My question:
1. Can I include them as open work permit (wife) and visitor records (children) in my work permit extension? Or should they apply separately?
2. Processing time for work permit extension takes 107 days currently. Are we allowed to apply for same employer work permit extension, visitor records at the border if I have my LMO?

Thank you in advance. Please advise ;)

Don't know the answers to most of your doubts, but you can apply for extending your work permit online and thats much faster - 47 days I believe currently.

Re: Work permit extension with the same employer .

i have to renew my work permit( company specific) with the same employer. Could you please help me telling what i need to do and where should i apply to do that for the another LMO

You should go to the CIC website or even the canadavisa site home page and you can find the info there.

Re: Work permit extension with the same employer .

Your company need to advertise for the position to show that no Canadian Citizen or permanent resident applied or qualified before your company can apply for a LMO in your favour.

This is the info your employer needs to apply for a new LMO:
http://www.hrsdc.gc.ca/eng/workplaceskills/foreign_workers/fwp_forms.shtml

This is the info you need to apply for a new work permit:
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/extend-worker.asp

Yes you need a new LMO, but it is the employer who applies after advertising the position for at least 14 days at the job bank.
