I have applied for my post grad work permit to be extended due to the premature expiry of my passport. Could have only submitted via paper based on online guidelines for this type of application (PGWP exception to extend). My wife's open work permit expired along with mine on Feb 9, 2022. The following is the timeline:
- Sent both (my wife's and I) applications via Canada Post express mail on Dec 23, 2021 to Edmonton Processing Center.
- Original work permits expired on Feb 9, 2021 (along with our passports) - had passports renewed and received in Nov 2021.
- IRCC Received the applications on Dec 31, 2021.
- Numerous webform to conform the application number to link our applications - eventually got the application in Feb 2022. But just 1 application number and none for my wife's.
- Waited almost 5 months and no response to even more webforms > finally got the approval online on May 17, 2022, but dated May 16, 2022. Again just my application noted.
- Sent a webform asking if my wife's application is bundled, as we paid for both together > Of course no response.
- Hoped that both would be sent in the post, but got the mail on May 25, 2022, but just my work permit.
- My wife is being questioned periodically about her work permit for her to continue her job, but without an application number or an agent to ever to be available to talk with (called well over 100 times), we are being kept in the dark still.
Any advice from others who may have been in this situation? What to expect for my wife's work permit?
