Work Permit Extension - Losing my job! Please help me!

Hi everyone,

I'm full time Engineer at my company, and I'm protected person in Canada. I've applied for my PR card last year July 10, and I recieved an email from IRCC for medical exam and I did it. 6 months ago I've applied for work permit in order to extend it. I didn't heard anything from IRCC. So yesterday I've applied for new one. My work permit will expire on July 11. I have bill and rent to pay. I found this job in 5 months ago. I just want to build my future but now I'm so worried, stressful, anxiety triggered, can't sleep and I don't know how can I recieve that permit ASAP. I need your help. I'd like to consult you about what I can do, please do not miss this post.

Hello, i am also in your situation and I believed you shouldn’t have applied for a new one. This is why we have a forum like this to help one another.

My employer asked for my WP in February this year I sent them the temporary notification received from IRCC that i have applied online. So when the temporary one was about to expire early this month I received a call from HR that my temporary WP will expire next day, that I should stop working the next day. I responded that my status have changed in April to protected person and I have applied for a PR online. So she asked to send evidence of my PR application, protected document and I did a screenshot of my online WP application which is still in process as well as the processing time of WP on ircc website.
The next day I received an email that I can continue working but should send my WP to them when I received it. I hope this helps a bit.

You shouldn't apply for new application, that was a mistake. you should print IRCC notification and print out section 186 (u) and give it to your employer. thats it....

This applies ONLY if you applied for an extension NOT a completely new work permit:
All temporary residents have an automatically imposed condition that they must leave Canada at the end of their authorized period of stay. However, as per section R181, a temporary resident may apply to extend their period of authorized stay before it ends. If they have done so, their period of authorized stay as a temporary resident is extended by law until a decision is made [R183(5)]. Such a person is considered to have legal status as a temporary resident during the processing period.
