Hello,
My work permit expires soon and I still could not apply for an extension because I did not receive the employment ID number which is necessary to submit the application. Does anyone know what will happen if I can not submit my application before the permit expires?

Thank you.

You will be out of status! Too Risky!!

Thanks, That's true.
However, do I need to leave the country? I have read in the immigration website that the international experienced workers can stay 90 days (must stop working) to retrieve their work permit? What if someone is not from that class? Is there any special rule due to the pandemic?
I will very much appreciate any information regarding my concerns.

Thank you.

Yes, you can stay in the country till Aug 2021 but you must stop working until you restore your status. Thi is a temporary policy for all visa holders who got out of status during this pandemic. Apply before August and you will be fine( you can stay in Canada) until you receive decision on your restoration application.

I hope it helps.

Ptocessing now for inland applications tend to be fast. I submitted my application gor initial work permit on March 19 then received result on 25th. This is thru the new public policy allowing certain visiyors to apply for an employer specific work permit
