Work Permit expiring end of August

Hi,
I am a mom for 20 months old baby and not working at his moment. My post graduate Work permit is expiring on Aug 30th. I will be submitting my Application for PR (my Husband is sponsoring me) in a week.

I saw on CIC website that I should maintain legal status while the PR application is in processing. So,

-Can anyone let me know if I am eligible to extend my work permit (I am confused as I am not working), if so should I mail the extension application along with the PR application
-Also,can I go for the Medical exam upfront or should I wait

No - you are not eligible to extend your PGWP. You should apply to convert your status to a visitor.

If you are applying outland, you need to complete the medical before you submit the application. Otherwise you can wait until CIC requests it.
