I'm from the British citizen on a work permit however my work permit is expiring on June 26th and I'm in the process of looking to switch to a visitor visa to stay for an extra few months until my wife that is a Canadian citizen can get bio metric data (delayed due to COVID-19) taken to apply for a visa to the UK.

My question is, if applying to change to a visitor through IMM5708 before my work permit expires (June 26th), is this considered an extension or a restoration? I'm beyond stressed out with all of these documents and their confusing wording and am just looking for clarification.

Others can comment/correct as well but restoration implies someone has already lost their status which you will not until June 26 so you are applying for a visitor record to flip your status to that of a visitor from after June 26th. Once you submit the application you will be on an implied status and processing may well take quite a while after end June to complete, current quote is 133 days but with COVID these dates are likely even less accurate than normal

Extension, NOT Restoration.
