Dear Wonderful Forum Members, we hope you’re doing well. Firstly thank you for all your great answers for everyone who has reached out to you. I work as Operations Manager at Dubai Airports managing the Hotels (07 years’ experience and holding a diploma) and my wife is pastry chef in Dubai (05 years’ experience). We have our IELTS exam end of this month and trying our best to get a good score. For later we have approached a local agent who is going to help us with a work permit and job offer. We have few questions to ask from you, we are really sorry to be a pain. Following are the questions. Many thanks. Thank you so much

• Can a local agent help with Job offer and Work permit process? •
Is there any score system required for work permit?
• Do we have to do ECA? Is it mandatory?
• On your past experience how long do you think the work permit process takes?

Job offers from local agents are almost always scams. Do not give anyone money in exchange for a job offer. It's generally next to impossible to secure a job offer and work permit in Canada because it's a very long and expensive process for the employer.

Instead of trying to secure a job offer. you should instead focus on qualifying and applying to immigrate to Canada through an economic immigration program like Express Entry.

You do not need ECA for a work permit but you do need ECA for immigration.

Again, be very very careful. Any job offer you receive has a very high chance of being a scam.

1. You can use an agent but how will they help you get a work permit? Don’t get scammed. You need a Canadian employer who needs to pay $1,000 and file for a LMIA. This will prove no Canadian or PR could be hired. Takes months to process and then you apply for closed work permit. I believe processing for work permit from Dubai is a year.
2. ECA is mandatory if applying to PR (Express Entry - FSW) to set up a profile.
3. Most people don’t get approved LMIAS and closed work permits.

Thank you very much for your kind reply and for taking the time to explain. Makes sense
