My friend and the wife both applied for work permits. My friend is the main applicant via AIP ( close work permit) and his wife is the accompanying spouse (open work permit). Both their medicals have been passed. My friend has received Passports Request but the wife did not. Has anyone experienced this before? What was the outcome?

So was she wasn't approved then. Are they both in Canada? When did main applicant file for PR? What is length of permit? Most times not processed at the same time because PA should be approved first.

No, they are both not in Canada. That’s why the main applicant got passport request.

So all they can do is wait. Processing may not happen at the same time. Assume main applicant's WP is longer than 6 months and they meet requirements for SOWP. Main applicant will want to go and start working in Canada which strengthens SOWP applicant if no decision is made. Don't know NOC or when applied for PR so cannot comment further.
