Hi all, hope to find some answers here.

My wife received offer letter for LMIA exempt temporary employment (for 2 yrs healthcare fellowship) and we are ready to apply for work permit for and opwn work permit for myself.
Question is regarding my personal histry which I will dosclose on the application as applicant of open work permit together with my wife:
1. I applied for asylum in the USA that was denied. I left US in 2013 and now lives in native country.
2. I have arrest in the past (2010) in US and FBI report says "COURT- () CHARGE-23152 (A) VC DUI ALCOHOL DRUGS MISDEMEANOR, ARREST RELIEF GRANTED PER 851.91 PC" (case sealed).
Questions:
1. How can I make my application stronger other then local country ties? Do I need / require rehab for the arrest in 2010?
2. Is it best to get a lawyer or representative to apply on our behalf? How are they going to help us?

1. Make sure you declare your full history in your application to Canada, including the failed asylum application in the US and the full details of the US arrest (including any court documents, etc.). If you have been denied a visa to any other country, make sure you declare that too. The main way to make your application stronger is through local country ties. You should also show strong proof of funds. If you have travel to countries requiring visas (such as the UK) since 2013, show that too. You don't need to apply for rehab based on the information you have provided.
2. It's really your choice. They would simply help you by putting the application together on your behalf.

thank you for quick response. Can you share from your past experiance, what are some documents that can be shown for local country ties. I know following I can attached to the application: Property ownership documents, bank statement, current and previous employment letters.

Property ownership, bank statements, and current employment would be the most important ones.

It's hard to say what will happen since you have the failed refugee claim from the US.

Is bank statement needed for work permit application?

Is bank statement needed for work permit application?

Not always. However if you plan to bring your spouse with you on an OWP or your children with you, then strongly recommended.

Does a letter of Statement of purpose helps? who writes SOP? applicant of work permit or open work permit as we are applying together.

I don't know if a SOP will help. Maybe others will comment.

I think it's probably more important to show strong ties to your home country, travel to countries requiring visas (if available), and to also make sure you provide all of the details related to your charges and failed refugee claim.

Good evening good people. I got a work permit refusal today and this was the reason.
“The compensation (monetary or other) indicated in your job offer and your assets and financial situation are insufficient to support the stated purpose of travel for yourself (and any accompanying family member(s), if applicable)”
I intend to reapply, please advise me how to address this . Thank you in advance.

You need to show significantly more savings or your employer needs to pay you more.

Wow. Thank you for your prompt response. If I am to show savings, how many months statement of account should I provide as proof of fund? Thank you!

Three months would be good.

I applied my earlier SOWP and PGWP extension (In case of passport expiration) through an agent, Today he forwarded me email for PGWP opt in but I am not seeing any PGWP (18 months extension) link on my portal. Does anyone is facing same issue? Should I reach out to my agent to update details
