Work in Quebec but Live in Ontario

Hello,

I have a closed work permit for a Montreal-based company and its employment location is Montreal in Quebec.

My question is: Is it legal to work in Montreal and live in some city in Ontario?

BTW, the reason for living in Ontario is because of the Immigration process.

I dont think the work permit says where you can live and as long as you work in Montreal

Do you commute everyday to work? Is your employer aware of this and is willing to vouch for it if IRCC ask about this?
