Hi, I would like to know what papers I have to present as self-employee. I have been working as a computer programmer for over a year and my employer is willing to make me a reference letter. Is this letter enough or should I present anything else?

You need detailed job description from your clients, signed by them. copy of job contract and copy of pay slips or money transfers from them to you for a carried job.

Did you get an ITA w/ Self Employed work experience within Canada? I don't know why you would be required to provide all that when you don't even get any points for it.

Not true.
If you running business, pay taxes you can get points.

Hmm...that's news to me - I just checked the 'Self-Employed' box in the Work History section of EE profile and it does not give me any points for work experience and I am now also not eligible for CEC.

I would think self-employer here will mean work as a contractor. I'm also a little confused in this case as based on CRA, if you work as a contractor and has only 1 client, you would be considered as employed and not self-employer. CIC doesn't mention the definition of self-employed vs contractor. Any thought about this case?

It's not at all that clear-cut. You could request a ruling from the CRA, if they determine that an employer-employee relationship exists despite remuneration arrangements.

This information is provided on the CIC website - scroll down to "Factors to consider - employee vs. self-employed"

Enough for what? It's not clear what you intend - by now you probably realize that self-employment experience is not valid for CEC.

Also, if you are "self-employed," you are your own employer - you don't have an "employer" but a client.

But yes, you could ask for a similar letter, with wording revised to reflect the contractor-client relationship.

Ok, maybe I wasn´t clear enough, This is my situation
I worked at the bank in my country for 3 years, but then I quit my job and started working as self-employed in a gym. The owner hired me on February 2014, since then I have been working for him. I made his business software and I am the one who maintain this program working making updates, etc. He pays me in cash every month for my work and he gives me a receipt of monthly payment . So, he is my permanent client.
I have other clients but only occasionally
I am trying to apply under Federal Skilled Worker program and this year can give me extra points.
My questions are:
1. Could this work count as work experience?
2. If it counts; Can I present a reference letter and my receipts or should I present something else like pay of taxes?
