Work Experience requirement

Hi all,

I am planning to apply under the CEC category soon. I have been working since April 26 2012 under the NOC code 2282 and I was wondering how they calculate the 12 months of work experience (i.e if they take into account stat holidays, or paid leave). I have 2 questions:

• is it safe to apply as soon as I have been working for 12 months (April 27 2013) or should I wait till say mid-May to be on the safe side (or longer)? I don't want my application to be rejected because I would be short of a few days.
• I have a T4 for 2012 that proves that I have been working in 2012 but should I provide any other supporting documents proving that I am still working at the same position in 2013? Or would the letter of reference from my employer be enough (if they state that I am currently employed in their company)?

Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.

A couple of buffer days could save you any unintentional calculation errors. Paid vacation and stat holidays are generally part of full time employment.

Or would the letter of reference from my employer be enough (if they state that I am currently employed in their company)?

Pay stubs for 2013, as well as your recently dated employment letter will satisfy evidence that your employment continued into 2013.

The requirement is 12 months. If you were in FT employment for 12 months from January - December 2012 your T4 is more than enough. If for whatever reason you fell short, you should provide pay stubs for the experience you are claiming for 2013 - but only if you worked less than was required in 2012.
