Hello, I have an important question regarding the documents required by the Canadian High Commission regarding work experience. This is what the update document letter says:

Provide employment letters, contracts, pay-slips and job descriptions endorsed by your employer's
personnel department covering the period from 10 years prior to your application date until today.

I have been working for the same company since September 2000, however, 10 years prior to my application date, September 2007, would put me in September 1997. I am only claiming points for my current job that I have been performing since Sept. 2000. Do they still need contracts, pay slips and employer's reference from my previous jobs? What if those companies don't exist anymore? They were really entry level jobs right after University and I doubt anyone from that company would even do me the favour to provide me with any information.

Any thoughts would be much appreciated. Thank you.

Hey edupolo,
Have you received your documents update letter?

Anyway, get the Proof for the company you currently work for for the whole period (up to date) that will get you the 21 points and anything that shows whatever you have been doing for the other period(s). Man, don't get too excited, (The 4 year period you are claiming points for is a must) + any other thing to prove the other 6 will do. Even if you do not have anything to show it, just write an explanatory letter regarding that period.

It's a bit of a worry if they want people to go so far back in their work history and yet you can only claim a max of 4 years work experience!
Have any other people been asked to provide 10 years worth of references etc??

They may be doing that because some people's current work does not fall into skill type 0,A or B but their previous experience might. At the same time, they don't want too old of an experience. So they put a limit on 10 years.
