Hi everyone

Can anyone tell me what is the last step that needs to be executed before which I can withdraw the PR application?
So say if I refuse to pay landing fee ...will it result in withdrawal or my PR application already through before that ?
So what's the last stage before which you could withdraw...

Thanks in advance

I think, if you do not pay the landing fee, it will be considered as abandoned. Is your application for Spousal Sponsorship?

Or you can just tell them you are canceling the application - http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?q=732&t=14

Hi everyone,

Thanks for the replies but I don't think it still answers my question of "what is the last stage in the process where I can withdraw"
So I have received AIP ...my medical is done and sent...what would be the next step?
I am assuming I will be asked landing fee?
Can I withdraw it after sending the landing fee as well?
Or I have to do before that?

You can 'withdraw' up to the point before actually 'landing', from what I understand. If you do not pay the RPRF, you would never be issued the landing document and I can only assume after a certain time they would consider the application abandoned and remove it from active status. If you pay the RPRF the application can be withdrawn up to the point just before landing. Once landed, the person is legally a PR and the application can no longer be withdrawn.

If you are a sponsor, you can withdraw your sponsorship anytime during the processing, as long as the decision on the applicant's file is not made. Pre or post RPRF payment does not matter. The moment when the VO makes the final decision matters, because if you withdraw after, they will not take it into consideration.

If you are the principal applicant, you can cancel the application anytime, even after paying the RPRF or receiving the CoPR. The RPRF will be refunded as long as you don't land.

10. I have paid the fee and received my visa. I have changed my mind and decided not to become a permanent resident of Canada. Am I eligible for a refund? How do I get it?

Yes, you are eligible for a refund of the full amount of the Right of Permanent Residence Fee. Contact the CIC mission where you paid the fee. Mission staff will process your request for a refund. In order to receive it, you will have to surrender your visa.

The sponsor can cancel even after VO has made a decision. As long as it's before the landing.

Rob_TO is right. I have had a couple of applicants in the timesheet that gotten their sponsorship cancelled after the applicant has recieved DM and waiting landing. Keep this in mind, these applicants are processed inland. Not outland.
