Hello folks, I got my AoR. But, I would like to withdraw and reapply to change my Visa Office due to some constraints in my current visa expiry. I paid my first application to CIO by credit card. Now, here are my questions to you:

1. What is the procedure to withdraw? By email? Or is there a separate application for that?

2. How long should I wait after my withdrawal request reaches Visa Office?

3. Do I have to wait for my money refund beforee I send my next application?

4. When I reapply, can I mention my AOR and would that help in speeding up the process by any chance?

Let me know please.

Thank you.

Send signed fax or e-mail to visa office asking for withdrawl and include AOR letter. I would also suggest send request by regular mail.

2. How long should I wait after my withdrawal request reaches Visa Office ?

You have to get a response from visa office that they recieved your withdrawl request, and that your file has now been closed.

3. Do I have to wait for my money refund beforee I send my next application?

No.

4. When I reapply, can I mention my AOR and would that help in speeding up the process by any chance?

No, the process starts all over again from zero.

Let me know please.

Thank you.

With reference to your answer from point 2, do you know how long doe it take for the visa office, from the time of receiving my request to close my file and respond to me?

Thank you.

In point 1 you can also fax a signed withdrawl letter but include your AOR letter in fax.

regardin question 2:

This I am not sure. I do not know if visa office has to receive your file before it can withdraw and then close it, or if visa office can wthdraw and close your file before it receives it. The thing is , you have to be sure your file has been closed before you file another application, otherwise you will have two. I am in exactly the same position as you are, waiting for visa office to receive my file so I can withdraw and reapply once again. I will not reapply until I have assurance the withdrawn application was closed because It could cause confusion on my new applciation.

what's wrong if you file another application without withdrawing the old one. i think both files can run parallel and after finalization of the one earlier the other one could be withdrawn later.

Try to check with your local CHC and ask them the process for changing the CHC location.

Why do you want to waste another 2 months for NS approval.

@canpr

I agree with laxmikanthms. If the deal is only to change the VISA office, why don't you change it in your application to CHC and state the reason for the change

Agreed indeed.

U can run 2 parallal applications and its the time of final decesion when you are asked/required by the CHC to keep one application and close any other/others if any.

Why dont you avail the running time and let the Withdrawl process go its own pace uptill finalization phase jumps in?

Hope you would think about that.

Always Hopeful

I would be more than happy to do that but, CHC responded they would do so only if that would enhance program integrity. I don't know what that means. If anybody could throw light on that, I would appreciate that. Please find the response from CHC and let me know what do you guys think would be my best choice. Anyways, I am still waiting for my FBI Clearance which, should be here in the next couple weeks. In the meantime if I could decide on how to proceed about this, that would be awesome. Please also read the part after the below mail from CHC and suggest what can I do in that situation also

Dear Applicant:

This refers to your application for permanent residence in Canada and
your request to have your file transferred.

Visa offices are not required to transfer applications upon the request
of an applicant or their designated representative, but will transfer
files only if that transfer would enhance program integrity.

You have the option of withdrawing your application at our office and
re-applying for a permanent resident visa to a visa office where you
have been lawfully admitted for at least one year or to the visa office
that is responsible for your country of nationality.

Please refer to our website to determine the responsible visa office:

My another recently developing situation is, the Canadian counterpart of my employer is willing to do my paperworks whatever is required to allow me to work in Canada. Now, I have LMO and AEO options. I am not sure how should I go about it. I am a little bit confused. I can either withdraw my Initial Application and ask my employer to do AEO and LMO and move in as a temporary worker and after I move in, I can use the AEO and apply for PR again. My other option would be to continue with the application and also parallely ask my employer to apply for LMO and AEO and update the application with my AEO and change the application category but, in that case, I am not sure if the CIC will give temporary visa since my PR application is in process. If you folks can throw some light on that, I would appreciate that as well.

Thank you.
